The U.S. Air Force will not be allowed to retire the A-10 if an amendment to the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act takes effect.
Sen. Kelly Ayotte introduced the amendment and wants the USAF to certify that the F-35 is ready to take over from the A-10 before the latter can be taken out of the fleet.
