U.S. Senators want USAF to review safety of ejection seat

Two U.S. Senators have introduced an amendment to the fiscal 2014 National Defense Authorization bill requiring the U.S. Air Force to assess the risks of the current ejection seats.

Sens. Mark Udall and Roy Blunt are concern that current seats are designed before pilots started wearing advanced helmets and other helmet-mounted equipment.

The call for review came after the service concluded last month that a F-16 pilot was killed after his helmet, fitted with NVG, came off during ejection.
