U.S. Navy planning 8-month carrier cruise

When the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group deploys next November, the sailors on board are expected to be at sea for eight months.

This doesn’t mean they will spend less time with their families as overall maintenance, training and deployment cycle will increase to 36 months under the Optimized Fleet Response Plan.
