USAF modification adds two years of life to GPS satellites

The U.S. Air Force has modified the way batteries on board GPS satellites are charged, this change adds one to two years of life to each satellite.

Completed last November, the software modification to the 19 satellites will add more than 27 years of cumulative life across the GPS IIR/IIR-M fleet.
