A senior South Korean Air Force official said Seoul is exploring leasing F-16s from the United States as an option to meet a shortfall in the number of fighters.
The RoKAF will be phasing out 160 F-4s and F-5s over the next five years and the number of FA-50s and F-35s inducted is insufficient to replace the losses.
