Lockheed Martin has come up with a solution to fix bulkhead cracks on the F-35B. U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Frank Kendall, said the process to fix the problem on existing jets will need to be certified.
New jets produced in Lot 8 may or may not get the redesigned bulkhead that prevents cracks.
