A People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force J-11BH conducted a dangerous intercept of a U.S. Navy P-8 about 135 miles east of Hainan Island on Aug. 19.
Rear Admiral John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the Chinese fighter
made several passes at the American aircraft, crossing over and under it.
The J-11BH is believed to be from Hainan’s 8th Division, 22nd Regiment.
