PLAAF Su-27s intercept JSDF aircraft for first time

Japanese military aircraft flying over the East China Sea have been intercepted by PLAAF fighters for the first time on May 24.

According to the press release there was no radio contact with the JMSDF OP-3C and JASDF YS-11EB.

The Su-27s are believed to be from the 7th Fighter Division of the Beijing Military Region.

  1. Hmmm … indeed intersting, but just go get a clearer image of the events, it must be known that the Japanese aircrfat were intercepted while flying into a restricted area, where the joint Sino-Russian Naval drills were held … so they were simply spying !! As such no need to complain.

    And finalyl the Flanker were not from the 7. Division but – as clearly visible from the serial (40547) – from the 33. Fighter Division, 98. Air Regiment.

  2. Yes, it was from 33. But initially when the photos were published, the information I got was it came from 7th. Too bad I don’t have a copy of your book with me. It would have helped a lot. Thanks
