USMC decided to retire Harriers before Hornets

The U.S. Marine Corps road map for retiring the F/A-18 and AV-8B has changed. Instead of retiring the Hornet before the Harrier, the service has decided on the opposite.

The latest 2015 aviation plan calls for the Hornet to stay around till 2030. All West Coast Harrier squadrons will switch to the F-35B by 2020, followed by the East Coast units in 2025.
