AH-64s with the U.S. Army are getting their reservoir servicing units manufactured by Ohio-based Tronair Inc. replaced by another similar component from another company.
The move came after the Army determined that hydraulic fluid contamination was behind the crash of a AH-64. Further investigations revealed corrosion and design issues with the reservoir servicing units from Tronair. Left unattended, the reservoir servicing units could contaminate the rotorcraft’s hydraulic fluid during servicing.
