Civilians flew 64 percent of sorties at 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron

Officials from Tyndall Air Force Base have responded to questions from The News Herald on the roles carried out by civilian pilots at the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron.

A civilian pilot was at the controls of a F-16 when it crashed and killing the occupant last month.

Base officials explained that of the 526 sorties flown by 82nd ATRS, 337 sorties were flown by civilians.
