Northrop Grumman is following Boeing’s footsteps and will offer a clean-sheet design for the U.S. Air Force’s T-X jet trainer program.
Subsidiary Scaled Composites will be roped in to design the aircraft. Northrop Grumman had previously partnered BAE Systems to offer the Hawk as a solution. The aircraft is expected to start flight tests by end of the year.
According to Aviation Week, the T-X is required to replace from F-16Cs in the aggressor role. The Hawk is deem inferior in this segment.
