A faster and more maneuverable version of the Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) dubbed AMRAAM-ER is being developed by Raytheon.
The new missile is meant for ground-based air defense (GDAD) and Raytheon will integrate the AMRAAM-ER into the NASAMS launcher.
Flight test of the AMRAAM-ER will be carried out before the end of the year.
