In acquisition notice released on Feb. 26, the U.S. Air Force indicated that a supersonic engine is one of the three power plant options being considered for the long range standoff (LRSO) missile.
Two other options being considered include: a derivative of an existing engine with 5% greater fuel efficiency and and advanced engine offering up to 20% better fuel efficiency. Both engines are subsonic.
