Airmen from the 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron overcame odds to get an A-10 back flying after the jet made an emergency landing in Al Asad Air Base in Iraq’s Anbar province.

The jet’s number one engine suffered catastrophic damage during a routine refueling mission and usually the repair would have taken a month to complete.
But the small team of maintainers does not have the time as the base is threatened by ISIL fighters.
They had no maintenance equipment at the location and parts had to be constantly flown in. Yet they were able to repair the jet in five days.
