RMAF chief says MiG-29 will be upgraded

Speaking at a parade to mark the 57th anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, its chief Gen. Roslan Saad said the MiG-29 fleet will not be retired at the end of the year and will be upgraded.

“Initially, there were plans to phase out the aircraft and replace them with another multi-role combat aircraft.”

“However, we have decided to upgrade the aircraft to ensure it has similar capabilities with fighter jets owned by other countries.”
