Philippine scraps plan to buy missile system from Israel

The Philippine government has decided not to proceed with a plan to buy a missile system from Israel, some media reported as the SPYDER, and channel the money for infantry weapons.

A spokesman from the Department of National Defense (DND) explained that the Shore-Based Missile System (SBMS) was only in the planning stage, senior defense officials decided to re-prioritize the funds to get equipment to better protect foot soldiers.
