Taiwan keen to buy shoulder-launched version of FIM-92 Stinger

The Republic of China Navy has an urgent requirement to give its missile boats a short-range air defense capability and plans to request permission to acquire the shoulder-launched version of FIM-92 Stinger.

The Marines currently has the Dual Mount Stinger (DMS) system. Washington has been unwilling to sell the shoulder-launched version of FIM-92 as it worries Taiwan will deploy the weapon in sensitive areas like the South China Sea.
