Russian fighters entered Syria with transponders switched off

A U.S. official told CNN that Russian fighter jets flew into Syria with their transponders switched off. The jets flew in close formation with a transport plane each time to avoid detection.

  1. Of course they did. You ALWAYS fly near a tanker with transponders off on everything but the tanker. It’s SOP for the west too. It keeps any air traffic control radars from seeing transponders in near proximity and freaking out because they’re about to collide.
