F-16 jettisoned fuel tanks, weapons after getting hit by fire over Afghanistan

A U.S. Air Force F-16 was hit by small arms fire while flying in eastern Afghanistan on Oct. 13. The action forced the pilot to jettison its auxiliary fuel tanks and three weapons before landing back at Bagram Air Base.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said: “That small arms fire did impact one of the aircraft’s stabilizers and caused damage to one of the munitions it was carrying.”
