USN reiterate need for two to three more squadrons of Super Hornets

At the hearing of a House Armed Services Committee subcommittee, Rear Admiral Michael Manazir told lawmakers that his service needs more Super Hornets to avert a shortfall in strike fighters.

The Director of Air Warfare said the shortfall could be avoided if the jets are ordered in both fiscal 2017 and 2018. He also explained that accelerating the purchase of F-35Cs is not going to solve the issue as the jet’s Block 3F software is not yet ready.
