India to revive Kaveri for UCAV prototype

The Indian government is set to give the green light to develop a derivative of the GTRE GTX-35VS Kaveri turbofan engine to power its indigenous unmanned combat aerial vehicle.

Research on the Ghatak engine will involve the private sector from the start, Economic Times reported. The afterburner section from the Kaveri will be removed.

The Autonomous Unmanned Research Aircraft (AURA) will also have to be operational within eight years.
