British government to outfit Voyager into ministerial jet

The British government has confirmed media reports that it will spend £10m to refit a RAF Voyager MRTT into a VVIP jet for the cabinet.

The spokeswoman explained that having a dedicated plane would save around £775,000 a year on ministerial travel.

“We have been looking at ways to make better use of the RAF (Royal Air Force) fleet to transport senior ministers and consequently deliver savings for taxpayers,” she said.

The aerial refueling tanker will get secure communications equipment and the number of business class seats will increase to 58. These seats are similar to the flat-bed-style seating found in Aer Lingus planes.
