RAF air assets assist stricken cruise liner in the Falklands

A cruise ship, Le Boreal, had an engine room fire that left it drifting off the Falkland Islands. The Royal Air Force dispatched a number of helicopters and aircraft to assist in the evacuation of passengers and crew aboard the ship.

Two Sea Kings and two support helicopters help winched 79 people from the deck of the Le Boreal and from two life rafts in the water.

A C-130 and a Voyager were on the scene for command and control.
