Carrier Charles de Gaulle moving to Persian Gulf

French President Francois Hollande visits aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle on Dec. 4 and he revealed that warship will move into the Persian Gulf in a “few days.”

“In a few days, you will join a new deployment area, taking over command responsibilities from our allies in the coalition,” Hollande said in a speech to the aircraft carrier’s crew.

France’s Chief of the Defence Staff, Gen. Pierre de Villiers, said last month the carrier will deploy to the Gulf to fill the void left by an American carrier.
