Two Afghan Air Force airmen assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron at Moody Air Force Base failed to turn up for duty on Dec. 7. One of the men is an Afghan Air Force lieutenant, while the other is a senior master sergeant.

Local and military officials stressed that the two posed no threat to the public. They were in the United States to learn how to operate on the A-29 Super Tucano. Both are part of the maintenance crew.
