Turkey is likely to buy air defense system off-the-shelf as stop-gap measure

Recent tensions with Russia has forced Turkey to consider buying a long-range air defense system off-the-shelf rather than developing its own indigenous version.

Ankara last month scrapped a long-running competition to buy a system from China.

Military analysts say it will still take between 30 to 40 months for Western manufacturers to deliver a system to Turkey.
