At the Association of the U.S. Army’s aviation forum in Virginia, Army officials revealed that the program for Chinook Block 2 upgrade has been given the green light to proceed and a request for proposal will be issued shortly.

It is yet to determine what kind of technologies will go into the Block 2 program but a key objective is to have the Chinook increase its payload to 16,286 kg.
