Japan has started its deployment of PAC-3 air defense missile units nationwide in anticipation of a rocket launch by North Korea.

One PAC-3 unit arrived at the Defense Ministry in Ichigaya, Tokyo on the night of Jan. 29 and was up and running the next day. JS Kirishima, a AEGIS destroyer, left Yokosuka Naval Base on Jan 27. The warship is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles using its SM-3 missiles.
