Raytheon has given out more information on the recent SM-6 flight test whereby the anti-air missile was used to engage a surface target. The target turns out to be decommissioned USS Reuben James (FFG 57).

It was USS John Paul Jones that fired the SM-6 during the test while another Arleigh Burke-class destroyer was on station as the assist ship.
The mission validated that the legacy Anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW) capability of the Standard Missile-2, the press release said.
