Australia to invest $4 million to develop flotation gear for helicopters

The Australian government announced on Mar. 10 that it will invest $4 million to further develop the Pegasus Aircraft Buoyancy System.

To be tested initially on the Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter, the device from Australian company One Atmosphere is designed to provide additional buoyancy to rotary wing aircraft that have crashed or ditched at sea and potentially provide extra time for the aircrew to escape safely.
