Japan’s Defense Ministry has lifted the ban for women to fly the AH-1S and AH-64D attack helicopters in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF).

The long term plan for the Ministry is to increase the number of women in military service to 20,000 by 2030. Last year, the JASDF allowed women to fly fighter jets for the first time.
