Indonesia to deploy Skyshield air defense system to Natuna Islands

Transcripts from a meeting between Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) commander General Gatot Nurmantyo and the Indonesian House of Representatives commission on defence, intelligence, and foreign affairs (Komisi I) reveals that the Indonesian Air Force is preparing to deploy its newly-acquired Skyshield air defense system to Natuna Islands in the South China Sea.

The TNI is also seeking to enhance its military capabilities on Pulau Natuna Besar by requesting for funds to buy medium-range air defence systems and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) squadron facility.
