News reports in India said Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has completed the first round of talks with Swedish firm Saab regarding the Tejas Mark 1A program.

The Indian state-owned aerospace and defense company hopes to enlist Saab’s help to produce the Mark 1A which will be equipped with an AESA Radar and an electro-optic Electronic Warfare (EW) sensor suite.
The enhancements have to be done by 2018.
