The original plan was to set up a production line in both countries and right now it seems very likely that Brazil will not proceed with production of the weapon even though development work has been done.
The poor economic climate in Brazil has resulted in a lack of funds to further integrate the missile on the Gripen E fighter. Instead, Brazil is looking at existing missiles that are cleared for carriage on the latest variant of the JAS 39.
