Textron is working on an upgrade of its Shadow unmanned aerial vehicle that will allow the RQ-7 to gain some capabilities that are currently limited to larger UAVs such as the MQ-1.

Internally, the drone will gain a satellite uplink that allows it to communicate beyond-line-of-sight.
To reduce drag, the fuselage has been streamlined yet 80 to 85 percent of the parts from the Shadow V2 can be cramped into the M2.
