During his speech at the CANSEC defence and military trade show in Ottawa, Canada’s Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan said the issue of selecting a new fighter to replace the CF-18 “needs to be dealt with quickly.”

Later when speaking with reporters, Sajjan refused to say whether any fighter manufacturer will be barred from bidding in the contract nor would he give a specific timeline for the purchase.
