Mid-air collision between two F/A-18Fs off the coast of North Carolina

Two F/A-18F Super Hornets assigned to VFA-211 were involved in a mid-air collision while flying off the coast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on May 26 at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time.

All four crew members ejected safely, one pair was picked up by a Coast Guard HH-60 and the other crew was saved by a fishing boat.

They were later sent to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center for medical examinations.
