A U.S. Navy EA-18G from VAQ-133 suffered significant damage to its nose and engines during an accident aboard USS John C. Stennis while the aircraft carrier was underway in the South China Sea.

The mishap took place on May 29 and apparently the electronic attack jet’s hook grab an arresting cable while airborne. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
A spokeswoman for Naval Air Forces Pacific said the unit is now trying to determine if repairs can be made at sea or a new Growler needs to be flown out to join the carrier.
