Design flaw in Advanced Arresting Gear risks extending delivery of CVN-78

The U.S. Navy might not be able to take delivery of the first Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier next year due to a design flaw in the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG).

The flaw in the AAG’s water twister has already delayed testing at Naval Air Station Lakehurst by two years.

Any new findings while testing the upgraded AAG can potentially derail the delivery of CVN-78.
