BAE Systems modifying Hawk with new wing design

Jane’s has learn from BAE Systems on the latter’s plan to modify its own Hawk Mk.100 advanced jet trainer with new leading edges and slats. The modifications are expected to improve the aerodynamic performance of the 42 year-old aircraft.

The company term the improvements as Advanced Hawk and is aimed squarely at the Indian Air Force.

Steve Timms, managing director of BAE Systems’ Defence and Information Services business unit, told IHS Jane’s that the jet, ZJ951, might be brought to Aero-India 2017 to entice the Indians.
