Canada on track to select new search-and-rescue aircraft this year

Industry sources told Defense News that Canada will announce the winner of the Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft competition by end of this year.

The contenders are: C-27J, KC-390 and the C-295. Instead of fixing the number of aircraft to be acquired, Canada is asking the bidders to specify how many airplanes are need to meet Canada’s search-and-rescue requirements.
