Jane’s has learn that the Royal Navy is on course to lose its ScanEagle capability in November 2017 and its Type 23 warships will not have an unmanned aerial vehicle on board for maritime surveillance duties.

The service had tried to procure a UAV capability under the Flexible Deployable Unmanned Air System (FDUAS) program but that failed to secure funding in this year’s budget cycle.
