USAF sending its UAV pilots for electronic warfare training

U.S. Air Force pilots who fly the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper are being sent to study a 15-day course that will see them graduate as Electronic Combat Officers.

The aim is to give them training so that they can continue to operate their unmanned aircraft when under electronic attack such as jamming of their satellite uplinks.

This will enable trained pilots to “extend the range of their operations into contested environments,” a course instructor was quoted as saying.
