C-17 exchanged broadband data over 1,500 miles via HF

Rockwell Collins has successfully tested its Wideband HF Receiver-Exciter on a C-17 and the cargo plane was able to exchange broadband data between Dover AFB Delaware and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

During the two-day flight testing, communication links were made, and data passed over a distance of more than 1,500 miles. The transfer included streaming video, real-time chat, file transfers and digital voice audio.
