India’s state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has conducted the first flight of its three-tonne light utility helicopter (LUH) at its facility in Bengaluru on Sept. 6.

The third indigenous helicopter from HAL is powered by a single Safran HE Ardiden-1U engine and carry up to six passengers. It is intended to replace the military’s Chetak and Cheetah helicopters.
