Thales sees potential in selling Starstreak MANPADS to Philippine

An executive from Thales told Jane’s at the Asian Defence and Security 2016 (ADAS 2016) exhibition in Manila that the French company sees “lots of potential” in selling its Starstreak MANPADS to Philippines.

So far, the system has been sold to regional countries including Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Mick Oliver, Thale’s business development director for advanced weapon systems, said his company is “trying to understand (Philippine’s) requirements” but it “perceive a need for an air defence system that is flexible and cost-effective.”
