U.S. Army could go for AH-64F

The AH-64E Apache Guardian might not be the final variant of the formidable attack helicopter as the U.S. Army is pondering whether to move to a new block upgrade that bridges the gap with the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) program.

“What we’re looking at right now is that timeline in between there, how long the timeline is if FVL stays where it’s at, comes back or goes to the right,” Col. Jeff Hager, the service’s program manager said.

The F-variant will have an improved radar, forward-looking infrared sensor and a new helmet, according to Hager.
