NATO’s AWACS flights clock 1,000th patrol over Eastern Europe

NATO AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) reconnaissance planes flew their 1000th flight over Eastern Europe on Oct. 5, the alliance said.

The flights were to monitor the situation in Ukraine after Russia annex Crimea in March 2014.
