F-35B’s weapons bay caught fire during flight

Military.com is reporting that a F-35B assigned to VMFAT-501 had an in-flight fire in its weapons bay on Oct. 27.

1st Lt. John Roberts, a spokesman for 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, told Military.com that the jet “landed safely and there were no injuries sustained.”

The incident has been classified as a Class A mishap and investigations are ongoing.
